The 8th Grade Lions fell to the McLoud Redskins on Tuesday at Oscar Brooks Sports Complex by a final of 20-12. McLoud would get on the board first in the 2nd quarter on a 32 yard TD run on a tackle breaking run by the McLoud running back putting the Redskins up 6-0. The Lions responded with a TD drive of their own capping it off with a 1 yard pass from Bryson Frazier to Jaxon Laminack knotting the score at 6. In the 3rd quarter, McLoud would go ahead on a 4 yard run and the 2 point conversion would put the Redskins up 14-6. Once again the Lions would respond when Bryson Frazier again would find Jaxon Laminack, this time for a 25 yard TD pass. The 2 point pass failed and the Redskin lead had been cut to 14-12. The Lion defense had the Redskins backed up at their own 16 yard line, but on 3rd and 13 gave up a back breaking 84 yard TD run. The failed 2 point play left the Redskin lead at 20-12. Blanchard would get the ball deep into McLoud territory, but a 4th down pass from Bryson Frazier to Zach Garrett at the Redskin 21 would miss it’s mark and the Redskins would take over to end the game. The loss leaves the 8th grade Lions 3-2 on the season. They will play again on Monday, October 8th against Lawton Tomlinson at home.
