The Blanchard boys (6-3) start the second half of the season after the Christmas break with a hard fought ,defensive influenced win 47-44 against Bethany (7-1 4A ranked #11).
The Lions despite being outscored in the first half 20-25, locked down in the second half on defense and held Bethany to 19 total points outscoring them by 8. Bethany had the ball on the last possession but were denied a basket by the Lions smothering defense as the horn sounded ending the game. Some notable stats for the Lions, 2nd chance points, Blanchard 13- Bethany 4. Offensive Rebounds , Blanchard 15 – Bethany 5, Defensive rebounds, Blanchard 21- Bethany 19. Solid evidence the Lions put forth the extra effort time and time again over the Broncho’s on the hustle stats that were the difference in the game. The Lions were led once again by Senior Jack Kiker’s 21 points, 8-10 of those from the FT line while pulling down 4 rebounds. Sophomore Whit Carpenter poured in 10 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Junior Laine Hall added 7 points and 5 rebounds. Sophomore Caleb Reed contributed 6 hard earned points while leading the team in rebounding grabbing 9. And senior McCale Bailey chipped in 3 points and 5 rebounds. The Lions go to 6-3, snapping a 3 game conference losing streak, in what is arguably the toughest conference in Oklahoma with 4 teams ranked in the top 20. The Lions are back in conference action at Tuttle Tuesday night.
