Blanchard Lions Drops Game To Elgin After Late Score

Blanchard Lions stayed in it until the end, but Elgin pulled away late in a 7-6 victory on Saturday. The game was tied at four with Elgin batting in the top of the sixth when Jake Meents tripled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs.
Blanchard Lions collected six hits and Elgin had ten in the high-scoring affair.
Blanchard Lions got things moving in the second inning, when Callen Golloway singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
After Elgin scored one run in the top of the seventh, Blanchard Lions answered with one of their own. Elgin scored when Trevor Bianchini singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run. Blanchard Lions then answered when Golloway drew a walk, scoring one run.
Elgin scored four runs in the fourth inning. Elgin big bats were led by Jacob Dawson, Bianchini, and Jaken Snider, all driving in runs in the frame.
Braeden Moreland took the win for Elgin. He allowed two hits and two runs over two innings. Lance Bianchini threw five innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Camden Cooper took the loss for Blanchard Lions . He lasted three and two-thirds innings, allowing four hits and four runs while striking out two.
Blanchard Lions totaled six hits in the game. Golloway and Tyler Henry all collected multiple hits for Blanchard Lions . Henry and Golloway all had two hits to lead Blanchard Lions . Golloway led Blanchard Lions with two stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with four stolen bases.
Elgin collected ten hits on the day. Holden Bartosovsky, Bianchini, and Dawson each racked up multiple hits for Elgin. Elgin didn’t commit a single error in the field. Tj Niedert had eight chances in the field, the most on the team.
