BHS Golf Team Falls to Fourth
The Blanchard men’s golf team placed out of the top three of all schools, for the first tournament this year. The Lion golfers traveled to Lake Murray State Park last week, and took part in the Lone Grove Golf Invitational. All of the 14 teams that participated were met by gusty Oklahoma winds, and lightning fast course greens. This tough combination caused scores throughout the field to increase. The Lions placed fourth, with a total team score of 361 strokes. The Sulphur Bulldogs won the tournament for the second straight year, with a team score of 333 strokes. The Lindsay Leopards took home the second place trophy, with team score of 346. The Leopards are coached by Jack Autry, a Blanchard Alum.
The BHS golfers recently won the Capitol Hill Invitational Tournament, with three team scores in the 70’s. However, the Lake Murray course took a bite out of the Lion team where the best score was an 81 by Senior, Kaden Upton. Mason Callaham carded a round of 87, and Ethan Weatherford shot 92. Cooper Gosnell and Carson Trent rounded out the team scoring, each with 104. The BHS team will continue their tournament season, when they take part in the Cushing Tigers Golf Tournament. This tournament will be held at Buffalo Rock Golf Course, which will be the site of the 4A State Tournament.
