BHS Golfer Wins Conference Title
The Blanchard Men’s Golf Team traveled to Purcell last week, and participated in the Canadian Valley Conference Tournament. The competition took place at the Brent Bruehl Memorial Golf Course last Thursday, after rain required it to be postponed from its original scheduled date. The wet conditions affected all players, as the soggy fairways yielded little additional distance drives and iron shots.
Blanchard Senior, Kaden Upton overcame the course conditions, and carded an even-par round of 71 strokes. This oustanding score earned him the low-individual round honor, and designated him as the top All-Conference Player for 2018. Upton was awarded a trophy for his achievement. Kaden has signed a Letter of Intent, to play golf on scholarship, at Mid-America Christian University this fall.
Twelve teams participated in the tournament. The Blanchard Team finished with a cumulative score of 348 strokes. The Kingfisher Yellowjackets were crowned as the Conference Champion with a team score of 328. The Tuttle Tigers placed second with a team score of 332.
The BHS Varsity team will travel to Lincoln Park Golf Course on Wednesday, to take part in the Capitol Hill Invitational Tournament. Two Lion JV teams will participate in the Pauls Valley Boys Golf Tournament on Friday. This will allow these young men to gain valuable tournament experience.
