The Lady Lions got a 6-0 win over the Bethel Wildcats Thursday night in the last regular season road game of the 2019 season. Blanchard will have one final home game Monday night against the Yukon Millers before they head to the Newcastle regional were they will take on the Cache Bulldogs in the first round to open up regional play.
The Lady Lions got on the board first against Bethel scoring three runs in the first inning thanks to a couple errors by the Wildcat defense. Freshman Grace Minton did deliver a RBI sac fly that was a bright spot for the Lions offense in the inning. The Lady Lions had trouble delivering a big blow in the contest to blow the game open but they did have a good night offensively as they pounded out 10 hits while walking twice and striking out zero times. Juniors Jayme Joyce and Callie Hacker both managed multiple hits in the contest, Minton and Senior Gracie Steelman both had one hit but delivered multiple RBI’s in the contest and Junior Carly Craig, Senior Avery Schneringer, and Sophomore Stormy Haynes also had hits in the contest.
The Lions pitching and defense were stout on the night as the defense didn’t commit a single error in 18 total chances while also turning two double plays. Junior Mak Gray and Schneringer combined for the shut with Schneringer earning the win in the circle. She went 4 innings striking out two while giving up one hit. Gray came in relief and threw three strong innings allowing only one hit and striking out one.
The Blanchard Lady Lions will be back in action on Monday for the final home game of the season. They will take on the Yukon Millers with a first pitch set for 5:00 at The Farm.
