It was all Yukon for the first four innings of the final home game of the 2019 season. The Millers led the entire night and were actually one strike away from securing a run rule before the Lions came alive. Jayme Joyce got a 2 RBI double in the bottom of the 5th to make it 9-3 before Callie Hacker got on by error scoring Joyce to make it a 9-4 ball game heading into the 6th! The Lions and Millers would both get runs in the 6th to make the score 10-5! Mak Gray threw a scoreless 7th that was highlighted by a 6-4-3 inning ending double play before chaos happened on The Farm! Joyce lead things off for the Lions in the top of the 7th by hitting a single up the middle, Hacker followed with a two run bomb to make the score 10-7. After back to back strike outs the Lions were down to their last out before Avery Schneringer and Carly Craig hit back to back singles. With two outs and runners on first and second Emylee Campbell drives a ball in the left center gap scoring both Schneringer and Craig. Campbell rounds second and runs straight through Coach Stringer’s stop sign on her way to third , as the relay throw is thrown to third it hits Campbell in the back squirting away to left field where Campbell gets up and races to score and tie the game up at 10 a piece! After a short mound visit by the Millers coach the Lions lead off hitter Talise Jones took two pitches to make the count 1-1 and on the third pitch the Sophomore sent a solo home run over dead center to end the game and give the Lions the 11-10 come from behind win!
The Lions managed 14 hits on the night Jones, Joyce, Schneringer, Craig and Campbell all managed multiple hits while Hacker, Grace Minton, and Gracie Steelman all managed a hit in the contest.
The Lions win gives them great moment as they head into regionals Thursday against Cache. The Lions hope to show the 8-3 win last month was no fluke as the Bulldogs will be seeking revenge! First pitch is set for 1:00 at Newcastle.
